TO KYLE!!!!!
After a 3 month long daily countdown Kyle’s birthday is finally here!!! The countdown alerts got so bad we banned him from speaking of it. That’s what sucks about the other 2 kids having both their birthdays in early Sept. and Kyle having to wait til the end of Oct.
It’s finally here!!!!!!
Happy Birthday to my Geek-In-Training!
This was my favorite book when I was in 6th grade. My teacher would read aloud to the class every day and I was hooked. I ended up checking the book out of the school library and reading it myself because I couldn’t wait to see what was coming next. At the end of the year I came to school to get my last report card and my teacher had the second book in the series and a bookmark waiting for me. She didn’t do anything like that for any of the other kids and it made me feel super special. She was also the one that pointed out I had a vision problem that led me to wear pimped out geek glasses.
Last week in Kyle’s online Lit. class we had to choose a book from a list for him to read and they set his curriculum to follow that book. I saw “A Wrinkle in Time” on the list and Kyle agreed he’d read that one. Off to the bookstore we went to buy him his very own copy. Since I lent the book out and never got it back we didn’t have a copy here and I haven’t read it in years.
He just finished it and he LOVED it. He wanted to read it again and I suggested we buy all the books in the series. We found a listing on Amazon that had all 5 of the books in one hardcover volume. YAY!
I will be reading all of them again!
What was your favorite book as a child and how long has it been since you’ve read it? Is it weird to revisit something you used to love as a child as an adult? I have found with movies that the ones I used to love now kinda suck. I hope that’s not the case here.
To me there is no holiday that can compete with the magical Halloween night. You can be anything you want, dress however you want, act however you want and no one has a problem with it. Magic I tell you! Screw Santa, I want a Horror Fest!
Jase has a friend, Ty, who really should be in Hollywood making horror films or at least designing the special effects. He always does Halloween big and this year will be no exception. He’s doing a haunted house and we will actually get to go and see it this year! I can’t wait!
The last time we went we got to watch this woman almost piss herself and take off running, leaving her 5 year old standing there in the middle of all of us. Took her 2 minutes to come back for him, poor thing. Ty is def. the master of fright!
For the 6th straight year the boys will be ninjas and Becca will be a vamp. It’s not that I force them to do it to recycle last years costume, they just won’t hear of going as something different.
I did however get them to compromise 2 years ago. I got the boys Power Ranger costumes and Becca a Tinkerbell costume for their B-days. To save money I begged them to wear those for Halloween. They only relented when I promised to make them all UN-DEAD! Becca was TinkerVamp with white skin and fangs and we tore up the boys masks so they looked like they had lost a fight only to come back and haunt their murderers. My kids are freaks and I LOVE IT!
What are your plans for this very spooky occasion?! What are you/your kids going as? Can I have all your SweetTart rolls? How about your ButterFingers? Can I have those?
HA! Mom joked that I would use that as a blog title and I couldn’t let her down. They headed out this morning like thieves in the night. I was still asleep when they left and I’m ticked I didn’t get to hug them goodbye. I jumped up when I saw the clock but the house was empty. BAD, BAD PARENTS!!!I know my mom though, she can only do a quick visit and wants to go home. She’s like me, I like my house and want my own bed and routine. I take what I can get.
They are going to stop by and see my nephew, as they only saw him for a moment after he was born. He is doing so well and I can’t tell you what a weight that is off this families shoulders. Here’s to hoping he continues to kick butt and take nurses names. I won’t be going to see him until after he’s out of the hospital. I just don’t think I could take stepping into another NICU and the visiting times are so limited his parents should be the ones there for that. I’ll get him when he’s free to be held and snuggled and spoiled by his aunt.
I want to thank whomever decided to hold Dad’s convention down here because I have gotten to see my parents 3 times this year! I think that’s a new record.
We had a great time and my mom bought me my Christmas presents early. We went to Kohl’s and found a bunch of 50’s diner kitchen things like salt and pepper shakers, cheese shaker (like what they have for pizza cheese), toothpick holder, and my fav the old time straw holder! LOVE LOVE LOVE them all! They were a few dollars each and really tie into the theme I want for my new kitchen!
Seeing my parents is like eating Chinese food. I get my fill but 15 minutes after it’s done I want more!!!
Hi, I am Heather and I am a parental time bulimic. Binge and purge…
Wedding Ring Analog
Since Jase and I don’t wear wedding bandsĀ I told my friend Becky of Tiny Tree Boutique what I had in mind as a wedding band analog when I ordered my Scrabble tile charms. This is what she came up with and I looooooove them. Our necklaces are identical save for the initials on the back. My charm has a J and his has an H. These are glass with silver soldered sides. She sells these versions in her other Etsy shop Art Under Glass. You should check her out RIGHT NOW. She does awesome work and makes me giggle like a 5 year old.
Excuse my picture taking. I did it on my quilt that was sitting on my lap.

My nephew, Gavin Drake made his entrance into the world on Oct 10. You should go check him out. He’s a keeper!
He weighed in at 2.7 pounds and 15 inches long.
that I become an aunt again. My SIL is having a C-Section at 4pm EST to deliver my nephew into the world. Due to health issues including Pre-E, Gavin Drake will be a little over 2 months early in his debut. Please send warm, healing, strong lung thoughts his way. My mom and dad were in my brothers town on the way here when we got the call that it was going down today. They will be there when Gavin makes his entrance.
It feels like someone has pushed the pause button on the DVR of my life. Ever since we put the offer in on the house it seems like I am just stuck waiting for that one phone call. It’s almost to the deadline we gave the bank to respond and not a whisper has been heard. Why yes, I am whining. No, I don’t care. I just feel lost. Why didn’t anyone tell me I’d need to refill my anxiety meds before trying to buy a house?
Thank goodness my parents will be here soon. It will be a lovely distraction for awhile.
When I am stressed out I just want my Mommy and Daddy. Jase is awesome but he’s stressing out too although he internalizes it all so he doesn’t freak me out even more.
They will get to see Kyle doing his at home school stuff and I’m glad they will get a better understanding of it. My mom wasn’t quite sure about it when I first told her but once she sees how well he does with it and that he still has friends in the neighborhood to socialize with she’ll get it.
I have been keeping up with everyone’s blogs but just haven’t had any pearls of wisdom to share so I’ve been quiet but I’m there with you. MWAH!
